About the InstructorI served as the STEM Director and Corden Pharma Regional Science Fair Director for BVSD (2019-2022). For 2022-23 school year, BVSD decided to go another direction with their strategic plan and discontinued the STEM department-- focusing on Grad plus initiatives. Currently (2022-present), I am at Arapahoe Ridge with their alternative high school program that helps at-risk students graduate and links CTE endorsements with Boulder Tech, and work experience if students choose to acquire college credits and endorsements. Prior to that, I worked as the STEM Director for 3 years, a Science teacher, Technology Integration Specialist, Science Research Seminar teacher and coordinator, and Secondary Science Curriculum Coordinator with the Boulder Valley School District. I taught at Monarch High School (2000- 2019) and before that I was at Fairview High School, Boulder (1995-2000), Yucca Valley High School, CA (1994-95), and Jefferson County Open School, Denver (1993-95). I have worked with the University of Colorado-Denver teaching Introduction to General Biology Lecture and Lab 1 and 2 with the CU Succeed Program for 17 years and the IB program for 5 years. I attended Walden for a doctorate in CIA, with an emphasis on how BYOD and One to One has changed the way educators teach and students learn. Additionally, I have done research in how stereoscopic 3D affects learning and motivation of abstract concepts. With the SRS program, I have worked with several students investigating the effects of various stressors on the RNAi system of Arabidopsis with Dr. Lisa Johansen, CU-Denver and other various topics. I sponsored the MHS Connects club an offshoot of Invisible Children Club, Roots and Shoots club, Horseshoe club, Musical Theater Club, and Co-sponsored the MHS and LMS --Technology Student Association . We also started a 3D animation group under TSA working with Maya, Blender and Z-Brush. My hobbies are sci-fi, reading, water sports, volleyball, badminton, House (TV show) and anything related to technology. Here is an old education blog that I started- due to to many projects, I have discontinued blogging at the moment, and put some things on this site under the MoEducation link. Below are some awards I have been honored with, publications and interviews as well as to the right are slideshows, videos and article links to what I have been up to...
